Short Description : Teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for owning and operating a pistol safely.

More Details: This course is at least 8-hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot revolvers and semi-automatic pistols. Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; pistol parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest position, and two handed standing positions; cleaning the pistol; and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, take a Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Examination, and course completion certificate. Ammunition:  50 rounds minimum of new ammunition for your pistol (bring more to shoot more after class!)
Class size:  12 maximum
Prerequisites: N/A
Restrictions:  In accordance with ITAR regulations, only US Citizens are allowed to participate in NRA training courses.

Equipment:

• Pistol or revolver suitable for concealed carry usage in an appropriate self-defense caliber (typically .38 Special or .357 Magnum in revolver or .380 ACP, 9 mm, .40  S&W, 10 mm or .45 ACP in semi-auto) If you do not have a pistol, make arrangements with the instructor for possible use of a 9mm semi-automatic handgun.
• 50-100 rounds of appropriate practice (target/FMJ) ammunition for class (extra to shoot after class if you want!).  Instructor will not be providing ammunition.
• Eye and ear protection
• You will not be drawing from a holster in this class.

We will be utilizing an outdoor range for the 2hr range portion, so dress for the weather!

Registration and deposits are due by January 9th in order to allow for the ordering and shipping of the correct number of student packets.
